Superb Vintage Retro Wedgwood ‘Mayfield’ 1960’s Dinner Service - classic mid century made by Wedgwood in the 50s and 60s. Bringing elegant and functional dinnerware to more homes in the post war era. The service comprises 13 pieces, perfect for a dinner for 4 or 5. It is in excellent vintage condition. The design is so pretty - pink poppies on a white background, and bordered in a ruby red, deep red. Delightful.
The shape of some of the pieces is distinctly mid-century and early retro - love the lines of the serving plates ( x 2) and the handle style of the 3 tureens.
A really good everyday set, but can also be uplifted to be something quite elegant. Perhaps you have other pieces you are matching up, or looking for a starter set. This could be either. It is delightful.
It is in very good condition with no chips or cracks. There is some staining to the underside of the tureen lids. Please see the images. The colours are very well preserved and little evidence of cutlery scratches.
