What a fantastic old tool I have found here. Tool probably not being the best description as it looks more like an agricultural piece.
Horace Fuller Limited Feed ex works Horsham Sussex is stamped to the inside of one of the long handles. There is a metal bridge to the top of the long lengths to keep them secure. I have shown in the images there is a break halfway down one of the shafts but it is fine one piece and still intact but does feel a little bit loose. As I rather suspect you will not be taking it into your garden to use it and it will be used for decoration and display, that probably does not matter too much!
There is a pine container in between the iron wheels. As you can see this is missing the lid but I don't think that really matters very much because you can actually see the interesting inside where there is a brush that scoops the seeds out through the hole in the back and down into the funnel. There is an oxidised brass instrument which rotates to dictate the flow of seeds.
I can only get one of the wheels to actually rotate the other one seems to be rusted to the shaft. However, this may just be because there is a bolt to the centre of each wheel which allows the user to set out the correct distance between the wheels for whatever purpose, so for instance some seeds need a 12 inch gap some seeds need a 18 inch gap etc.
I think this is a superb piece of our old agricultural heritage in the right place it's going to look amazing. You may want it for a film, stage TV prop, drama prop, shop window display or if you have a lovely old rustic building suspended from the wall for decoration or just popped in there corner of your hallway.
