Vintage Victorian Painted Over Mantel Wall Mirror in Farrow and Ball White.

A beautiful late Victorian vintage over mantel mirror.
This had a very dark, unattractive and dated finish so I decided to liven it up and bring it into the 21st century.
Having sanded the original finish a little I applied two undercoats and three top coats of Farrow and Ball Estate Eggshell.
This just off white is named after the market town of Wimborne in Dorset and home to Farrow & Ball. Only a shade away from a pure white, the addition of the smallest amount of warm yellow pigment creates a very versatile shade which is just a little softer than All White.
As with all hand painted furniture, do expect a few idiosyncrasies to the finish.
I have then wire woolled the paint to the edges to expose the original finish underneath and leave a contemporary finish.
The glass is very well preserved and in very good condition.
The frame is made of pine and is solid and intact. Originally the frame would have been veneered.
All round, the condition is very good.
This would look fantastic not only above a fire surround but anywhere in the house.

It has a newish boarded backing. The two original brass plates are still in situ, for wall attachment. Someone has added some wire at some point which I would recommend you remove.
