This is a unique and historically fascinating Victorian vintage metal trunk, of interest, used by "The Jesters," a travelling performance group based in Epsom, Surrey. The trunk bears its original printed label on the lid advertising "Entertainments for All Occasions" and includes a whimsical jester graphic, clearly identifying its theatrical heritage. It also comes with a brilliantly bold orange placard board reading “The Jesters’ Concert Party,” a charming relic likely used for public signage or stage promotion.
The trunk is constructed from pressed metal with a warm ochre-brown mottled finish that has developed an exceptional crackled patina over decades of service and storage. Its riveted dome-top lid, reinforced edges, and industrial-strength side handles suggest it was made for durability on the road.
