Vintage Unique Painted Shabby Chic Oval Mirror in Farrow and Ball Wimborne White and Gold Highlights
A superb top quality genuine vintage oval mirror.
Victorian.
The frame is made of wood with a moulded covering.
The original finish was in very poor condition so I decided to paint.
I have applied two undercoats and three top coats of Farrow and Ball Wimborne White estate eggshell. Farrow and Ball- 'This just off white is named after the market town of Wimborne in Dorset and home to Farrow & Ball. Only a shade away from a pure white, the addition of the smallest amount of warm yellow pigment creates a very versatile shade which is just a little softer than All White.'
I have then wire woolled the finish so the gold underneath shows through and leaves a wonderful unique contemporary distressed finish.
As with any hand painted pieces, expect minor flaws and idiosyncrasies to the finish.
Some pieces of gesso throughout, especially to the sides, have been lost but painted over which adds to the shabby chic look and feel as well as character and authenticity.
It has a boarded backing and a hanging method.
The original thick glass mirror is bevelled and well preserved and I would describe it as very good condition for the age.
All round this is a beautiful bespoke mirror and would look great anywhere in the house. It is very good quality and therefore quite a good weight to it.
