A lovely vintage tea set made by Johnson Bros. Wonderful example of early to mid 1900s English china. Earthenware with pretty floral transfer design. Johnson Bros were making floral design china as early as 1920s and 1930s. This set could well be from then, or could be from the 1950s. It is a classic homely china set. A large set with 31 pieces. It is vintage so is used, but is in very good vintage condition. Includes plenty of plates, jug, sugar bowl etc. Call Old English.
Large tea set with a very pretty floral design, it comes with:
3 small tea cups - 7cm h
3 large tea cups - 8cm h incl one with chip
6 large saucers - 16cm diameter
4 small saucers - 14.5cm diameter
6 small cake plates - 18cm diameter
6 large sandwich plates - 20cm diameter
Milk jug 13cm w, 10cm d and 9cm h
Sugar bowl 14cm diameter and 7cm h
Cake plate 22cm x 22cm
The tea cups fit both size of saucer. As mentioned one cup does have a chip/crack but is still included.
This is a set which has been enjoyed and so there is some wear to the design and gilt edges and crazing to the glaze.
Would be a super vintage set to mix and match with, or to break up and use for different purposes. A lovely original English china set.
