This is a slightly unusual mirror because it originally served as the back of a Victorian sideboard. Victorian sideboards have become less commercial for resale in their entirety, so they are often separated into a cupboard and a mirror.
The mirror is made of solid mahogany, and someone has sanded down the original finish. This has left the mahogany wood exposed without a finish applied. It currently has a rustic, aged appearance, but you could add a finish of your choice, whether paint, polish, oil, or another option.
The build quality is very high, crafted by skilled Victorian craftsmen. For something that is around 150 years old, it has certainly stood the test of time. As shown in the images, there are slightly lighter areas of wood just below the finials, where a shelf would have originally been, and along the bottom two inches where it was attached to the sideboard. The old screw holes have been filled.
Only the front of the finials have been sanded, with the original finish still visible on most of them and in areas that were not exposed to the sanding process.
Please review all the images carefully to assess the aesthetics and condition. The original mirror is in very good condition for its age. Note that you will need to add mirror plates to the back to mount it securely on the wall.
