Vintage Solid Iron Fireplace Inset Hearth ‘Gallery’
I would imagine this lovely old fireplace is from the mid 20th century. It is marked ‘Gallery’ to the back.
This is a very heavy solid lump of iron and is fully intact.
It has a loose drawer to the base for collecting ash and a grata which can be removed, as you can see in the images.
It is covered in a surface rust, there is no corrosion. Somebody has attempted to clean up the front and the top little bit and that would appear to be because there is a residue of paint in places which is now only noticeable to the left hand side.
There are two iron backings. The smaller front one says solid fuel plate and I would imagine at some point that lifted out, but it appears to be stuck in at the moment and then of course the traditional normal fire back.
This is very heavy and will be delivered by a proper furniture courier by hand. The delivery person will need a hand at your end as it is very heavy or you need to pay for a two man service.
