Crafted from solid pine, this two-tier unit features a beautiful scalloped back panel and simple side supports, showcasing the natural grain and warm honey tone of the wood. The piece is believed to date from the late 20th century (circa 1970s-80s) and was likely handmade, giving it a one-of-a-kind, artisanal quality.
Its versatile design makes it ideal for use in a kitchen to display crockery, jars, or herbs; in a cottage-style living room for books and ornaments; or even in a bathroom for towels and toiletries. The warm pine finish and visible joinery lend an inviting cottagecore and shabby chic feel that works beautifully in both period and modern interiors. It is very sturdy and well made, with the slight quirks of being handmade and rustic.
The shelf can be used as a freestanding tabletop display (obviously be mindful or it being sturdy and balanced enough) or easily adapted for wall-mounting (mounting fixings not included, but two holes already exist for screws).
It retains its original finish with gentle signs of age, adding to its authentic vintage appeal. I have cleaned it down, and sanded off some old paint marks, but it has not been stripped, stained, scrubbed or varnished or oiled by me. I have left the final end effect to the desire of the buyer!
