Vintage Rustic Elm Coffee Table with Folk-Inspired Tiled Top – 1970s/80s

This vintage wooden coffee table has a unique character, likely handcrafted or customized. The turned legs and stretcher base suggest a traditional rustic style, while the illustrated tiles add a whimsical, folk-inspired charm. The tiles are glazed and maybe Delft-inspired, though not traditional Delftware—they could be Continental European, possibly Dutch or French, with a regional folk art influence.

The table is structurally sound. The wooden top has been stripped back to bare wood and then oiled, there are very minor inconsistencies to the finish. The beautifully turned legs and stretchers retain their original polished finish, which can be easily refreshed if desired, though the age-worn patina adds to its appeal.

This is a truly rustic piece, possibly a commissioned item, dating from the 1970s or 80s. The wood used appears to be elm, a beautifully grained timber also used in Ercol furniture.

It has a lovely warm look and feel, augmented by the lively tiles; this is a very unique piece and very attractive.
