This vintage chenille runner or hallway rug, with its timeless charm, displays the unique character of age and use. It is in great condition for a rug which would have seen much footfall in its time! Lovely ethnic type design and rustic autumnal colours, this rug would really liven up that hallway, passage way or landing.
Chenille is a blend of materials, often including wool. I believe this rug does have will in it. It has a luxurious feel to it and a little bit of sheen. Quite silky smooth underfoot. Likely machine made rather than handmade, more 1990s than 1790s !
It does have some signs of wear and age (some faded places where maybe the sun got it or something was spilled), but overall it is in great vintage condition. It has been brushed and vacuumed, but like all vintage items, it might like a bit of a steam clean. I have tried to show its full condition in the photos but as it is a long rug, and there are the two sides (it could be used either way), it is difficult to capture in 10 photos. However, I hope the photos will give you a good idea.
