Vintage Retro Oak and Chrome Bedside Cupboard
This is beautiful and distinct if art deco 1930s oak bedside cupboard.
It has maintained nearly all its original character. There has been some previous wear to the top surface which is now hardly noticeable, please see images. The inside of the drawer needs a bit of a clean. Otherwise, the drawer runs well and along with the door has a beautiful solid oak and chrome handle.
It is made of a mixture of solid oak and oak veneer on thick board so it is of very good quality and would originally have been part of a superb art deco bedroom suite.
The sides and the door are veneered and the rest seems to be solid oak. The doors on these cupboards were always veneered on board as oak, if it is not part of a joint, has a tendency to warp.
There is a solid oak shelf within the cupboard which lifts out should you not require it to do so. As you can see in the images there are three thick slits to the back presumably for ventilation as during the 1930s chamber pots were still used, however there is no evidence that that one has been used in this cupboard!
You might want to use this as its original intended purpose, as bedside cupboard, but this would look amazing anywhere in the house and extremely practical as it has excellent storage but minimal width.
