I have to say I haven't seen one of these before. I would date this from the early 60s, the giveaway being ‘Printed by Taylowe Ltd in 1960’
The map is a Saxton’s Map of Kent, Sussex, Surrey and Middlesex, 1575.
This is a melamine type surface, not glazed, which makes it safe to send. There are some small marks to it and some staining to the far right hand side but otherwise I think it is very well preserved.
To the back the trim does not meet perfectly and there is a centimetre gap and to the left hand side there is a chip to the trim.
Although the legs look perfectly normal somebody has previously carried out some work on them.
They are not a matching set. They do look absolutely fine and it really hardly notices because they original castors which would it be different have been removed. You can therefore see that two of the legs are tough plastic and the other two are solid wood. Again there are some marks to these but on the whole the condition is good. The two plastic legs are thicker than the other two.
The table is very sturdy, although one of the legs does feel loose, however I have removed it, inspected it and this is perfectly secure. I think it's it's just an ill fitting match,
So what you have is an absolutely superb and unusual retro coffee table of the Home Counties with some imperfections, however with the white clean surface and oodles of quirkiness it is an absolute delight.
