What an absolutely delightful piece, a rare opportunity to buy a 1960s or early 70s onyx and gold metal lamp with what appears to be the original lampshade.
The tall, slender stand with decorative stepped segments gives it a classic mid-century and vintage retro aesthetic.
The base is made of onyx and is thick and weighty, so it stands well. There are some very small chips on the edge, which, as you can see in the images, are hardly noticeable and blend well due to the natural, higgledy-piggledy look of the onyx.
The wonderfully turned onyx sections of the stand are interspersed with what is probably a gold plated finish on steel. The yellow pleated fabric shade, with its intricate crochet trim, adds a touch of elegance and nostalgia, very much reminiscent of 1960s-70s home décor. There are tears to the inside of the shade, bit externally it is very well preserved and in great condition.
This is a true statement piece that blends retro charm with warm ambient lighting. It is perfect for mid-century, boho, or shabby chic interiors—a rare and authentic vintage combination. It would be a fabulous addition to any home, whether you're curating a vintage aesthetic or looking for a unique lighting feature that tells a story.
