This delightful resin lamp base features a beautifully modelled group of three cherubs (or putti) seated around a central decorative stem, evoking the style of Baroque and Rococo sculpture. The lamp is full of intricate detailing – from the flowing drapery and expressive figures to the scrolling base with raised floral motifs. Its warm, antiqued finish gives the appearance of carved stone or ivory, adding to its classical charm.
Dating from the mid 20th century, likely 1960s, this lamp captures the romantic revival style popular in decorative homewares of the era. The resin construction allows for fine detailing while keeping the lamp lighter than stone or plaster versions. It is a wonderful classical piece from 20th century - would look wonderful with a vintage shade - large Empire or Bell shape perhaps, or could carry off a more contemporary drum shape too. Very attractive and would look fabulous in a room with a more ornate, traditional and rococo look about it - or as a superb vintage accent somewhere more contemporary or minimalist.
The lamp remains in good vintage condition, with only light age-related wear and natural patina consistent with use. With all the folds and intricate detailing you may wish to clean it up more, but I have surface cleaned it and left as is for a buyer to decide what finish they want.
It has passed a recent PAT electrical safety test and will be sent out as working with up to date plug, albeit the original wiring remains. It has a very long cable! Bayonet fitment slightly squiff, not that noticeable.
Perfect for lovers of classical interiors, French Rococo décor, or whimsical cherub ornaments, this lamp would look wonderful on a side table, in a bedroom, or as part of a feature display in a traditional or eclectic setting.
