This charming vintage hall stand is a fine example of early to mid-20th century English country furniture, likely dating from the 1930s. Constructed from solid oak with plywood panels and later painted in a soft, creamy off-white, it offers both functional storage and decorative appeal in equal measure. The tall back is crowned with a shapely, scalloped arch, adding a touch of Art Deco influence to an otherwise rustic silhouette. At the top, a circular bevelled mirror, authentically distressed with foxing,age speckles and slightly cloudy sits mounted in its original position, offering a gently timeworn patina that evokes genuine vintage character.

Four sturdy cast iron coat hooks with period detailing flank the mirror, aged to a bronzed, oxidised finish that enhances its antique presence. The bench seat opens up to reveal a spacious internal compartment, ideal for stashing boots, scarves, gloves or even dog leads—perfect for organising an entryway or porch.

The bench also features shaped open handles to either side, allowing it to be lifted and repositioned with ease, but which are perfect for storing walking sticks.

In terms of condition, the piece remains structurally sound and highly usable, with wear consistent with age and use. The paintwork shows minor surface imperfections and edge wear, particularly around the seat, hinge areas, and corners—lending it a gently distressed, shabby chic charm that suits rustic, cottage, farmhouse, or boho interiors. The mirror is securely attached and original, showing signs of silvering loss around the edges which only add to its authentic feel. All hooks are firmly attached and functional. They will be sent unattached for safety in transit. The screws remain in situ so just unscrew and reattach the hooks.

This hall stand has an effortlessly nostalgic quality and would sit beautifully in a hallway, mudroom, boot room or conservatory, adding instant character and practical charm. Delivery is free to mainland England and Wales only.
There will be a cost anywhere else so please, contact us for a quote.
This will cost us between £60-80 to deliver, so if you wish collect from Lewes in East Sussex we will refund the saved courier charges.
The couriers will arrange a day and time window with you.
Delivery is to the front door. Should the item be large the courier will need a hand your end or contact us and we will arrange a more expensive two man delivery.
