Vintage Painted Mirror in Farrow and Ball ‘Blackened’
Originally a side mirror from an Edwardian dressing table.
I have added an eyelet to the back for hanging.
The finish to the frame was worn so I decided to paint it.
I have applied two coats of undercoat and three topcoats of Farrow and Ball ‘Blackened’ estate eggshell. This leaves a subtle and soft sheen to the finish. I have sanded the edges so some the original finish shows through.
This is hand painted so expect brush strokes and minor idiosyncrasies to the finish.
Farrow and Ball describe Blackened thus-
‘Our coolest white, with the slightest hint of grey, was historically made with the addition of lamp black pigment gathered from the smoke of burning oil lamps. Blackened sits perfectly with each of our Architectural Neutrals for a minimal look or stronger industrial feel.’
In layman’s terms it is a very light blue/grey!
The mirror is in good condition and bevelled. Close up you can see some marks and signs of wear, but I would grade these a pretty good for the age.
Boarded backing.
