Vintage Painted Bespoke Wall Mirror in Farrow and Ball Wimborne White Gold Highlights.
This is a beautiful old mirror, 1900-1910. It has a distinctive lovely scalloped shape to it. The carcass of the frame is made of wood, so it is nice and solid. This has been covered in a moulded gesso to create the decoration and smooth surface. The original finish was very tired and scratched so we decided to paint and give it a good upcycle!
I have applied two coats of undercoat and three topcoats of Farrow and Ball Wimborne White estate eggshell.
Farrow and Ball describe Wimborne White as follows-
This just off white is named after the market town of Wimborne in Dorset and home to Farrow & Ball. 'Only a shade away from a pure white, the addition of the smallest amount of warm yellow pigment creates a very versatile shade which is just a little softer than All White.'
I have painted the edges with an artist’s acrylic gold wire woolled this to null any shine and leave a shabby chic finish.
This is hand painted so expect brush strokes and minor idiosyncrasies to the finish.
The mirror still has the original glass. This is bevelled. There is spotting to the glass which I always think that's a bit of character and authenticity.

Having just been painted I would consider these to be in very good condition.
It has a boarded backing and is ready to hang.
