Vintage Painted 1970’s Plaster Mirror in Farrow ad Ball Hand Painted Upcycled.
These sorts of mirrors were prevalent during the 1960’s and 70’s so date from then.
They are made of moulded plaster that has been moulded around a wire frame.
Originally it was covered in a gold finish that was worn and chipped in places.
Three undercoats were applied and then three coats of Farrow and Ball Wimborne White Estate Eggshell. I then wire woolled the finish so some of the gold from underneath as come through.
Farrow and Ball sales pitch on Wimborne White-
'Wimborne White is named after the market town of Wimborne, Dorset, the home to the first Farrow & Ball factory. It is just Off-White with the addition of the smallest amount of warm pigment to create a very versatile white which is just a little softer than All White but can still be used in contrast to any other Farrow & Ball colour'.
There is a boarded backing and eyelet for hanging.
There is a fault. To each side at 3 and 9 o’clock there is a split. As the frame is wired this is not in any risk of causing a strength problem, however, I hope you can make it out in the images as it only really notices close-up.
