A gorgeous pair of original watercolour paintings of the romantic Venice. Delightful townscape and water scenes - a few boats thrown in. I date these to the early 1900s. They are wonderful paintings, but just as wonderfully mounted in gold metallic mounts and then framed in delightful gold painted wooden glazed frames. The pair of frames suit these paintings beautifully. The paintings are signed ... something like Virk.. I wish I could decipher it but I can't. You may have more joy or know the artist already. I hope you do. The paintings are in lovely condition - there are a few occasional markings on them but nothing untoward. The mounts are in good shape but also have markings commensurate with age and in some places the mounts seem to stick up to the glass. The frames are in great condition too - yes there are scratches and marks from age and storage, but besides one small piece to the bottom right of one frame, they are intact. The glass is intact too and they have the original wooden backing. A delightful pair of paintings which deserve to be redisplayed and enjoyed.
