Vintage original camel stool - wooden frame with original leather seat (needs stitching) - sturdy and solid

These are fabulous vintage, functional and characterful items. Popular in the 1960s and beyond as decorative and practical items from the Middle East or North Africa. This stool is a charming example with lots of character indeed - it is sturdy, solid, has its original brass caps on the frame, and original tufted leather cushion. Originally designed for comfortable rides on camels and then adopted as exotic and eclectic pieces of furniture. They are hand crafted and designed. They brought a bit of bohemian chic to a retro home, and still do so today. They are very comfy to sit on, and sturdy if in good shape (as this one is!).

Often the brass caps which hold the stool in a rigid open position get lost - not these! They are with the stool and finish it off nicely. The wooden frame does have signs of age and wear on it, but it is a quality stool and still very strong. As mentioned the cushion has fared less well. Intricate design embossed on the top of the leather showing a camel scene, string underside to tie it all together; soft worn leather faded from age and completely authentically charming - but loosing its insides to open stitching. The insides are original!

These stools are functional seating or footrests and this one deserves to be given a new lease on life! The stool may be sent slightly folded with cushion lifted off for ease of packaging.
