This is a very attractive print. Gorgeous colours, particularly the blue. It is labelled at the bottom left and is of Sabrino, a warrior, as a puppet in the famous Sicilian Puppet Theatre, dei Pupi Siciliano. Opera dei Pupi. The puppets were wooden and highly decorated and were wildly famous in the 18th and 19th centuries. This print is much more modern but is a copy of an original painting or photograph of one of the famous puppets. It is a lovely painted metallic wooden frame and is glazed and ready to hang.
Likely a depiction of a medieval Saracen warrior, fighting the Christian Knights. This print shows Sabrino and the Operate Theatre of Puppets - a real tradition in Sicily and part of the storytelling history. Shows the exquisite craftsmanship of puppet making hundred or more years ago.
The vintage frame is possibly from 80s or likely 90s. It is a great frame with glazing and string. It shows some signs of wear, silver paint ha rubbed off in places, but this doesn't detract from the vintage frame. The glass may be non-reflective, but I am not sure. It has been professionally framed and is ready to hang.
