Vintage Occasional Bedside Chest of Drawers in Farrow and Ball ‘Pitch Black’ Cabriole Legs
A very well made 60’s or 70’s reproduction chest of drawers.
Perfect and highly practical in any room.
It has been sanded and two primer coats applied.
I have painted it in Farrow and Ball Pich Black estate eggshell and gold acrylic highlights.
Farrow and Ball say of Pitch Black- ‘Pitch Black is as pure a black as you can get and is strong and uncomplicated in all lights. Named after the dark sticky residue of coal tar often used in roofing, this true black has an unsurpassable depth and almost velvet quality. As with All White at the other end of our colour palette, it is easy to understand and indispensable for ironwork, woodwork or even walls if you are feeling daring!’
I have applied two coats of undercoat and a further 3 coats of Farrow and Ball Pitch Black Estate Eggshell has then been applied to leave the soft sheen finish. I have lightly sanded around the edges so the wood is partially exposed which nicely breaks up the black and rubbed down the fronts of the handles. The handles are brass and the fronts and the gold of the fronts blends beautifully with the gold highlights that have been lightly wire woolled to partially expose hues of the black underneath.
It has all been done by hand so expect flaws to the finish. There is a slightly roughed up area to the rear right of the top where the veneer has been compromised.
Otherwise, it is in really good shape.
Good weight and quality.
Drawers are clean and run well.
