This vintage early retro wooden stool is a cheerful and practical piece with a bright yellow vinyl top that instantly adds a pop of retro charm to any space. Dating from the 1960s–1970s, it combines a simple square seat with rounded corners, set on sturdy straight wooden legs (looks like beech to me) with a central stretcher for stability. For a piece of furniture that has had lots of use and exposure, it is in superb vintage condition!
The sunny vinyl surface is easy to wipe clean, making it ideal for use in kitchens, workshops, studios, or as a versatile extra seat anywhere in the home. What is also great is that the top is secured on the frame with some plastic clips (see underside - one is broken) which means the top of the seat can be removed for easy cleaning.
Its compact proportions mean it can be tucked away when not in use, and its design suggests it may have been part of a stackable set often found in schools, canteens, and domestic kitchens of the era.
In good vintage condition with light age-related marks to the top and legs, all consistent with use and adding to its authentic retro character. Few minor marks on the vinyl which you should be able to see in the photos, the obvious marks on the wood from use, couple of repair marks on corners where the detailing has come loose and the wood has been repaired - very well done as hard to see.
A great functional collectable for lovers of mid century, atomic age, and utilitarian furniture design. A funky pop stool for a kitchen, playroom, games room, garden room, bedroom. Delightful to look at and great to use.
