Vintage Mahogany Kneehole Pedestal Desk. Nine Drawers. Splits.
This is a very beautiful and a top quality vintage veneered mahogany knee hole desk.
This splits into three pieces, the two three drawer pedestals and the top three drawer surface section.
There is very little wrong with the three pedestals of which I would consider the condition to be very good. The drawers are clean and yes there is the occasional ink stain but otherwise they are clean and run well. They are all very good quality solid pine. Beautiful original drop handles all of which are in good condition and intact. To the bottom plinths there are areas of scuffing where the lighter colour of the original wood can be seen. To the left hand top drawer just above the circular right hand piece of brass you'll see there is a dent.
The top writing surface, a green leatherette with silver decoration, is for the age in pretty good condition. You will see there are lighter shades to the front moulding and wear to the silver decoration on the green surface, both of which are just signs of wear from elbows which gives it a really lovely authentic look. Being over 100 years old, of course the surface does have some stains tears and marks. Each drawer has a thin strip to the four edges. To the bottom left of one of the drawers some of this is missing.
Therefore, please take a good look at all the images and utilise zoom in facility to check the condition.
This is a superb desk, both attractive and a very useful size. Signs of wear give it a really lovely genuine age worn look.
