This charming vintage handmade wooden bookshelf offers a warm blend of rustic charm and practical functionality. Likely crafted during the 1970s/80s, it features a classic freestanding design with four fixed shelves, ideal for storing books, displaying collectibles, or organizing household essentials. Its hand-painted finish in soft cream is delicately contrasted with a distressed gold trim, adding a subtle pop of colour that beautifully captures the essence of shabby chic and cottagecore aesthetics.

I have applied two coats of undercoat and three topcoats of Farrow and Ball White Tie estate eggshell.
I have painted the fronts with an artist’s acrylic gold wire woolled this to null any shine and leave a shabby chic finish.
This is hand painted so expect brush strokes and minor idiosyncrasies to the finish.

Signs of age and use give this piece a well-loved character. There are visible scuff marks, slight paint wear, and a time-earned patina throughout, particularly along the edges and trim, enhancing its authentic vintage appeal. The rear panel of the top shelf has two small drilled holes, suggesting it was previously wall-mounted, though it also stands well on its own as a floor unit.
