A vintage gilt triple folding mirror in ornate rococo revival style, perfect as a dressing table or vanity mirror and equally striking as a decorative wall piece. The three hinged sections feature detailed moulded frames with scrolling foliate and floral patterns in a rich gold finish, giving the mirror an elegant and classical look.
The central mirror is rectangular and flanked by two narrower side mirrors that fold inwards on sturdy metal hinges, allowing for adjustable display and creating depth when angled. The central mirror sits within a frame and swings slightly for suitable adjustment. The back is finished in board with metal fixings, typical of late 20th century manufacture.
The rococco finish is gilt with black subtleties. It is a pretty finish giving it a fresh bright look but not too garish. It is an attractive and functional folding mirror. This mirror was likely made in the 1970s–1980s, drawing inspiration from French rococo designs, and is both practical and decorative.
The gilt finish has mellowed attractively with age, with light surface wear, and minor patina consistent with vintage use, which only enhances its character. A couple of tiny areas have lost their finish and been repaired or left - hardly noticeable. The joins are a little ajar in places but do not affect the sturdiness of the mirror. Tiny rubber feet allow the mirror to be slightly lifted off the surface when standing, one is missing and has been replaced with a small nail - not noticeable when standing. The glass is clear and in very good condition.
