This elegant vintage dressing stool is a beautiful example of mid-20th century French Louis XV revival style, likely dating from the 1940s, quite possibly earlier. The stool features a carved wooden frame with classic cabriole legs, ornate acanthus leaf detail, and a softly arched apron adorned with rocaille shell and foliate flourishes. The frame is finished in a timeworn gilded paint with subtle green undertones, now gently distressed with age, exposing areas of underpaint and bare wood that add to its authentic patina and vintage appeal.

The generously padded seat is upholstered in a richly woven floral tapestry fabric in soft pastel tones of salmon pink, muted cornflower blue, mustard yellow, and pale green. The botanical pattern adds a gentle femininity that complements the sculptural curves of the woodwork. The upholstery is studded with aged verdigris-finished tacks, which have mellowed over time and enhance the character of the piece.

Originally designed as a vanity or boudoir stool, this piece is ideal for use in a bedroom or dressing room setting, pairing beautifully with a dressing table or serving as an occasional seat. It would also make a charming accent in a hallway, boutique, or vintage-inspired interior.

It is probably recently reupholstered, so good is the condition.
