Vintage French Fruit Wood Quality Fire Screen Guard Still Life Tapestry Decoration.
A huge and very impressive tapestry fire screen. This would have been made in France, I would guess during the early 20th century,
It is made of a fruit wood which is a good quality hardwood. It has a lovely golden appearance and it's beautifully designed with some wonderful decorative features, particularly the beautiful carving to the top.
It has a fantastic still life tapestry which remains very well preserved with further material to the back.
It looks like it has been stripped at some point.
As you can see in the images the condition is very good and the screen is very well preserved. The only flaw to it is that the front left hand foot has been gnawed by a pet. This doesn't actually notice too badly I don't think but you better judge yourself, I certainly didn't notice it when I first bought the screen.
Very imposing and highly decorative screen which stands very well I'm not really look fantastic in any substantial fireplace.
