What a delightful and unusual piece this is.
I am not sure of the wood a pine or fruitwood maybe. It has the dark stain that was fashionable at the time of manufacture.
It is quite sturdy and well preserved with no little pieces absent.
Very elegant.
Obviously, this height so it would sit by the arm of a chair so really good if you have a bad back!
I would not be surprised if this was made in France.
There are marks to the finish that a dark oak stain would disguise.
Take a good look at all the images to satisfy yourself of the condition.
