This is a classic Edwardian coal scuttle or coal box, likely from the early 1900s, featuring a metal-lined interior and an original scoop compartment (scoop not included).
Originally designed for storing and carrying coal for the fireplace, these pieces are now often used decoratively or repurposed for magazines, kindling, and other general fireplace accessories.
It features a sloped, lift-up lid, a delightful turned wooden handle, and shaped side panels. The original removable tin liner is in solid, usable condition with an aged patina. The coal box is finished in a rich, dark-stained mahogany and retains its original turned wooden knob.
This piece is in very well-preserved condition, with only some surface marks and signs of wear consistent with its age. It is a top-quality item, evident from its weight and solid wood construction.
Please refer to the photographs for a closer look at the details and view the overall condition. Feel free to message with any questions.
