A charming and highly practical vintage piece, this item combines storage, seating, and elegant craftsmanship. Its compact design and multi-purpose function make it a standout addition to any home.

Almost certainly originally made for a piano, it features fold out compartments likely intended for sheet music, evoking a time when pianos were a regular part of domestic life. Though its original use has faded, its charm remains. Repurposed, this piece is fantastic for use in a hallway as a stylish seat and storage unit, at the foot of a bed, or frankly anywhere in the house where you need something both useful and decorative.

The frame and internal compartments are constructed from mahogany, based on the rich grain and warm tone, clearly made from fine materials with top-notch craftsmanship.

The top features a cushioned seat upholstered in a geometric patterned fabric that hints at Art Deco or mid-century design, though the piece itself dates from the late Victorian or Edwardian era. The beautiful curved wooden side handles make for easy lifting and movement. It stands on four rounded bun feet, enhancing its classic silhouette.

The front panel has a decorative edge moulding and a scalloped border. A small brass handle at the front, while not original, is a genuine Victorian piece, both decorative and functional.

The front panel drops down on a hinge to reveal a tiered internal compartment with two shelves, ideal for organising magazines or household items if not being used for its original purpose.

For its age, this piece is in excellent condition. There are minor signs of wear to the original finish, but the upholstery is very well preserved. There are no signs of repairs or structural faults just age appropriate wear.
