Vintage Edwardian Grand Dressing Table Satin Wood Walnut Drawers Mirror
Turn of the 19th/20th century. Satin wood was widely used and fashionable during this period. It has a lighter colour than mahogany but does not really show a grain. Normally a wood just used for bedroom furniture, I have no idea why. Normally has a very thick finish to it that darkened the wood. With this particular dressing table this remains very well preserved as you can see in the images.
The four drawers all run well and still have their original handles. The wooden drawer bases were lined in sticky backed plastic which we soaked off with hot water which has dyed the wood a little bit white. But otherwise, clean. Two smaller drawers for jewellery.
Tilting mirror. Bevelled glass. This sits at a slight angle on the two supports, quite a common trait in old dressing tables caused by the weight of the glass. However this only really notices when you look at the table side-on.
