Beautiful early 20th century standard lamp that has been upcycled for contemporary homes.
It is made of a hard wood and is top quality.
Beautifully designed with subtle turnings to the column leaving it looking stylish and classy but not too imposing.
It is in good working order with a nice gold flex.
I have applied two coats of undercoat and three coats of Farrow and Ball Borrowed Light estate emulsion which has a soft sheen finish. A near duck egg blue colour.
I have then applied to places some acrylic artist’s gold paint.
I have wire woolled the gold, so it has a distressed look, and the hues of the bottom coats comes through.
I have also sanded some of the edges elsewhere, so the wood comes through.
Farrow and Ball have this to say about the paint.
Evoking the colour of summer skies, Borrowed Light is a wonderfully pale blue named after the delicate light that cascades through small windows and fanlights. It works as well in a room deprived of light as it does in an airy sunroom. This soft and classic tone is perfectly suited to children’s bedrooms, especially when contrasted with Stiffkey Blue on furniture or woodwork.
As with all hand painted items expect some abnormalities and inconsistencies to the finish.
However, please take a good look at the images to check the very good condition as it has been recently upcycled.
Height to the top of the bayonet 140 cm, to top of the standard 133 cm
Diameter of the base 34 cm
