Vintage Ash Part Painted and Wood c1900 Mirror Green.
This has been a project for somebody.
It was originally a mirror from a late Victorian ash dressing table, evidenced by the dowels used to fill in the axis holes to the sides.
Somebody has sanded off the paint partly. I assume they have used a belt sander or plane as they have just removed the paint from the easily accessible areas. Which is great as it leaves the combination of exposed wood and the paint leaving a very contemporary and unique shabby chic finish. I think it looks fantastic and organic.
There has been no finish added to the wood.
A new mirror has been set inside the frame and a new backing board, eyelets and string.
As you can see in the images, there is a small gap between the join to the top of the two uprights and the stretch of woof across the top. The joint is still absolutely robust.
A lovely rustic and shabby chic mirror.
