A very practical item - bookends, book ends, wonderfully crafted out of wood and with two gorgeous elephant carvings on them. Very likely originating from Africa, handcrafted for sure. They are a gorgeous rich light wood with the wood grain clearly visible. They are in excellent vintage condition. Yes of course there are marks commensurate with wear, and the wood is showing age in some places, but these are au natural - earthy ethnic original craftwork handwork. The are a good size for most paperback books I suspect and even small to medium sized hardback books. They are symmetrical but obviously as they are handcrafted, not perfectly identical - one of the vertical stands for example is thinner than the other.
