Vintage African Art – burnt wood, pyrography, depiction of African woman in traditional ethnic dress, signed L.Gwala

L. Gwala is an African artist recognized for his intricate wood-burned artworks; a technique known as pyrography. His creations often depict African themes, including portraits and wildlife scenes. This piece clearly shows the original burnt wood and engraving detail. It has also acquired additional scratches and marks from age, storage and wear. It is however still very presentable and will convey its ethnic origins clearly. It is signed on the bottom left and has a hook so is ready to hang. The wood used is very lightweight hence why it has easily picked up marks.
