Vintage 1920’s Painted Wall Mirror in Farrow and Ball White and Gold Highlights
The mirrro is probably from the 1920's.
The glass is thick, heavy and well preserved, just some minor surface marks that ony really notice on close inspection.
The frame is made of solid wood. This has been covered in a moulded plaster/gesso and the original painted finish. This was very dark and very ugly so I dedided to paint it.
I have applied two coats of undercoat and three topcoats of Farrow and Ball Wimborne White estate eggshell.
Farrow and Ball describe Wimborne White as follows-
This just off white is named after the market town of Wimborne in Dorset and home to Farrow & Ball. 'Only a shade away from a pure white, the addition of the smallest amount of warm yellow pigment creates a very versatile shade which is just a little softer than All White.'
I have painted the fronts with an artist’s acrylic gold wire woolled this to null any shine and leave a shabby chic finish.
This is hand painted so expect brush strokes and minor idiosyncrasies to the finish.
The conditon is otherwise very good for the age.
There are three pieces of moulding missing from the inner aperture, these have been painted over in the upcycling process so do not notice too much.#Small black mark to the gold on the left hand side.
Boarded backing with newer thick string.
