Very large Kenneth Howes Retro oil print on canvas “Early morning on the Loire” (97.5cm x 57.5cm)

Kenneth Howes was a British artist (1923-1981) known for his still life and landscape paintings. The originals are very collectible and some of his better works have been printed. This is a very large excellent vintage retro print on canvas – it is so good, you almost think you have an original. It is beautifully framed in a marvellous retro frame which is in very good condition.
The Early Morning on the Loire is a wonderful landscape – it is so serene, calm and still. You can feel the chill in the air. Howes painted the Loire valley quite a bit, but I have not seen a version of the valley and river which is as extensive as this. It captures the stretches of water and the riverbanks so clearly, and the gorgeous light makes it light up. The detail in the trees and bushes is exquisite. A truly lovely painting.
The print is in vgc, there are a few minor marks, and the canvas has some wrinkling to it, seen in certain lights. But overall, it is an excellent print on canvas and in great condition. The frame is also in vgc – few small markings to note. The hessian-coloured canvas it is printed on, also forms a lovely material raised mount – typical in some retro frames. This material does sometimes carry staining and marks, but this mount is not too bad, in fact I think it is very good considering its age. Helpfully someone has printed off a label with the artist’s name and painting title on it and placed on the frame. The frame is ready to hang, and it is all very sturdy and sound.
A gorgeous large canvas print to adorn a large wall. Perfect for a long hallway, corridor, entrance hall, living room. It is very beautiful to look at and I am sure will generate fond discussion.
