This antique cast iron fire grate is a beautiful example of traditional English craftsmanship—ideal for open fireplaces in homes, cottages, or restoration projects. With its charming rustic aesthetic and solid iron slats, it brings both function and character to any hearth.

Hand-forged with upright bars and a slatted base, it offers ample room for logs or coal while enhancing the historic feel of your fireside setting. The aged patina, including remnants of old paint and areas of surface rust, adds to its authentic vintage appeal.

Made of solid cast and wrought iron, it features upright slatted sides and a robust base, raised on four sturdy legs. It is structurally sound overall, with one side rail partially detached. This does not affect its display integrity and could be repaired if desired. However, as the fire basket will likely sit at the back of a fireplace, the rear section will rest against the wall—and if there’s a gap, you could simply place a tile behind it.

I’ve left this beautiful basket exactly as I found it. You can restore it if you wish, but if you intend to use it regularly, I would suggest keeping it as it is—in all its aged, one-of-a-kind style, haemorrhaging vintage authenticity and charm.

These will be delivered by hand by a proper furniture courier.
Delivery is free to mainland England and Wales only.
There will be a cost anywhere else so please, contact us for a quote.
This will cost us between £60-80 to deliver, so if you wish collect from Lewes in East Sussex we will refund the saved courier charges.
The couriers will arrange a day and time window with you.
Delivery is to the front door. Should the item be large the courier will need a hand your end or contact us and we will arrange a more expensive two man delivery.
It will take about 2 weeks.
