This upcycled vintage painted grey bureau desk is a charming and practical piece that offers both functionality and style. Originally a 1970s or 1980s bureau bookcase, it has been recently upcycled into a modern shabby chic piece that will fit beautifully into any home. Its compact size makes it ideal for smaller spaces while still offering a deep and functional work surface.

The bureau has been painted in a lovely grey shade, though I’m unsure of the exact brand or colour name. As shown in the images, the edges have been lightly sanded to expose the wood underneath, creating a contemporary shabby chic finish. The paintwork is well-preserved overall, with only a few minor blemishes that add to its character. Please review all the images carefully to assess the condition for yourself.

The desk surface is supported by two manually operated pull-out supports. Once in place, the surface, with its faux leather covering, provides ample workspace and legroom. The interior of the bureau has also been thoughtfully updated, with the rear of the cubby holes lined with stylish wallpaper featuring a charming cockatoo design. The bureau comes with a working key, adding a touch of traditional functionality.
