Unique 1970s Danish Style Coffee Table Smoked Glass Top, Black Painted Base, Distressed Upcycled Finish

This is a fantastic 1970s Danish-style coffee table.
A stylish rectangular piece featuring a solid wood frame with a smoked glass inset and a distinctive black-painted base. The sculptural side panels offer classic mid-century design appeal, while the distressed paint finish adds vintage character.

This table has been upcycled over the years, and the finish has been played around with. I have recently sanded the top and the base edges, and the exposed wood blends brilliantly with the black-painted areas and the dark glass insert.

The arched, curved cutouts on the side supports and the softened sharp angles are classic traits of 1960s–70s furniture design. The structure also includes cross supports underneath for added rigidity and visual balance.

The top has recently been sanded—previously covered in a poorly applied silver paint—and four coats of Danish oil have been applied for protection. This brings out a warm patina with beautifully visible grain.

The base is painted in a glossy black paint which contrasts sharply with the wood frame, giving it a bold, graphic look. The paint is intentionally distressed along edges and curves, revealing the bare wood beneath. I've oiled the exposed areas with a single coat to give a soft sheen, creating a charming shabby chic/industrial aesthetic. The paint hasn’t been professionally applied, so there are some runs and inconsistencies to the finish, which add to the handmade vintage vibe.

The glass is a smoked or dark tinted panel that sits flush within the wooden frame, offering a sleek modernist look. It is in good condition, with no chips, though some surface scratches are visible. The panel lifts out easily for cleaning.

These will be delivered by hand by a proper furniture courier.
Delivery is free to mainland England and Wales only.
There will be a cost anywhere else so please, contact us for a quote.
This will cost us between £60-80 to deliver, so if you wish collect from Lewes in East Sussex we will refund the saved courier charges.
The couriers will arrange a day and time window with you.
Delivery is to the front door. Should the item be large the courier will need a hand your end or contact us and we will arrange a more expensive two man delivery.
It will take about 2 weeks.
