Tall Quality Oak Vintage Unique Painted Shabby Chic Mirror in Farrow and Ball Wimborne White and God Highlights. When I bought this mirror it had the original dark stain on it which was the customary way of oak to be presented in the early 20th century. As it is made of oak this is of very good quality and the frame remains as sturdy as when it was first made. It is a beautiful shape with delightful raised corner decorations. I have applied two undercoats and three top coats of Farrow and Ball Wimborne White estate eggshell. Farrow and Ball- 'This just off white is named after the market town of Wimborne in Dorset and home to Farrow & Ball. Only a shade away from a pure white, the addition of the smallest amount of warm yellow pigment creates a very versatile shade which is just a little softer than All White.' To the raised corner decorations I have applied an acrylic artists gold paint and wire woolled the finish to give it an aged look. I have wire woolled around the edges of the white so the original dark finish underneath comes through to leave a contemporary distressed finish. As with any hand painted pieces, expect minor flaws and idiosyncrasies to the finish. The original thick glass mirror is bevelled and in good condition. There is a flaw to the mirror where there has been minor deterioration to the silver behind the glass to the top centre, which adds a bit of authenticity the salesman in me would say! Otherwise the mirror just has the general wear you would expect on glass over 100 years old. The gass is bevelled. It has a plywood backing and there are two mirror plates to the top you may wish to relocate to the sides. All round this is a beautiful bespoke mirror and would look great anywhere in the house.
