Superb Vintage Victorian Rotating Revolving Brass and Oak Magazine Rack
We are delighted to bring you this exquisite Victorian brass and oak revolving periodical / newspaper rack.
This is a classic piece of Victorian décor, beautiful quality and appearance. The rack has four separate storage sections separated by decorative brass dividers.
The brass is lacquered and therefore on the whole maintains its original gold finish. Where there is wear in places to the lacquer, probably through cleaning, there are some darker patches where the metal has been exposed to the elements and the gold has dulled accordingly.
The platform to the dividers is made of solid oak and is in good condition.
If you look at the image of the underneath you will see that there is a metal plate attached to the underside of the oak which has a thick pin in it which sits within the metal of the brass base. This means the top rotates effortlessly.
It also means that the top magazine section, when the bolt is unscrewed, can be removed easily and this will be sent unattached to cut down on risk of damage during transit.
This is a truly beautiful pace of Victorian décor. For the age of the condition is very good, I will say that three of the bolts underneath that secure the dividers are not original but I don't really think this makes much difference does it?
