This is a delightful oak over mantle mirror from the late Victorian era. The actual frame around the mirror is quite simple which is nice and it is augmented by the beautiful decorative fretwork sides, the decorative top and finials.
The actual frame is as sturdy as a date it was made.
The top of decorative top has nearly an inch of lighter wood which you should be able to see. This is where originally there would have been some moulding which has clearly being lost and polished over, apart from that the actual condition of the frame is very good.
The finials are still quite secure and it looks like someone has done some repair works with them at some point. To the very bottom there are three very small dents which when it is hanging really hardly notice.
Because of the design of the mirror, where the frame is too thin to accommodate the finials safely, you can see there are some blocks underneath the finial platform which help support them and keep them secure. The end result is that the blocks stand out 12 millimetres to the back of the mirror. The ply board packing is 2 to 3 millimetres so basically the last owner has glued some thick cardboard to the bottom of the mirror so that the bottom does not lean against the wall and the top part tilt slightly forward. I hope that makes sense.

The current hanging method is shall we say not very practical. This is too thick eyelets screwed into the back and some ungainly wire so you will need to apply your own hanging method.
If you're going to use this as an over mantel it can simply be perched on the mantle piece and the above info is probably irrelevant suffice to say from the top to the bottom there will be a one centimetre gap between the back at the mirror on the wall.

For thick original bevelled glass is it very well preserved and I would describe the condition as very good to excellent.
