These wine tables are absolutely superb - so popular. They made a comeback in the 80s and have continued to be seen as highly desirable practical and attractive items for the home. Obviously very useful for that glass of wine or wine bottle, but also super useful for plants, lamps, vases, ornaments and the like. Lovely, but not too big so perfect for standing in a corner, smaller space or alongside a sofa or armchair. This particular table is made of a quality hardwood and then painted white or off white/cream, with gold accents giving it a slightly more unique, French country, shabby chic look about it. Measuring 51cm tall and a table top surface of 30cm diameter.
I love the simplicity of these tables. Tripod feet giving it a good sturdy stand. Rounded surface top, and yet there is a lovely bit of carved detail on the stem. This is where the gold accented detail is. Just enough to make the table more than a white painted piece of furniture. Very neutral giving it the possibility of slotting into many different decors - vintage, retro, contemporary etc. Imagine it with a green hanging plant resting atop, a lovely bold lamp base and shade, sitting next to the sofa with a mug of coffee and a book on it?
The painted finish is not pristine. It is hand finished and has worn in places over time. This gives it that authentic shabby chic (not manufactured in that way) with a bit of French country feel to it. I have tried to capture the markings and wear in the photos. Regardless of its authentic vintage finish, it is a very attractive and very usable table.
