This is a beautiful and top quality early 20th century needlework box. Of course can be used for whatever you want as it is a very useful storage box and of course will double up as a side table.
In the main it appears to be made of pine although the drawer fronts and the front panel appear to be a separate wood of which I'm afraid I cannot identify.
A wonderful drawer for your cotton reels. This runs well and has beautiful bakelite handles which would suggest this was made in the 20s or the 30s,
The inside is clean and it has a hinge which self locks to keep the lid upright if you wish it to be.
Condition wise it is very well preserved which is unusual for something that was a practical piece of furniture. There are very few signs of wear just the odd surface mark.

I remember being a child in the 1970s and making a Laura Ashley patchwork cover with my mum out of Laura Ashley cast off materials, but other than that I have done no needlework so I can only really be honest and call the contents 'needlework accessories', please don't be offended. I can say with clarity that there are a lot of knitting needles. Anyway lots of bits and pieces that will be included.
