Superb Large Hand Carved Hardwood Elephant with Intact Tusks African Art

This is a superb carved elephant probably from the 1960s or 70s. I bought three of them as these would originally have been the three feet of a coffee table.

However. they work beautifully as stand alone items.

I cannot identify the type of word, suffice to say this would have been made either in Africa or India or somewhere, and the wood is a native hardwood from those areas and therefore of excellent quality.

It has a polished finish and has obviously been hand carved.

You can see there are three holes to the tops and some numbering which is where they original coffee table top would have been attached.

I actually think the fact that it was part of a coffee table once adds some quirky appeal.
