These are fabulous little stools. They have been made for centuries and continue to be made in slightly more updated materials today. This particular lovely string woven stool on a dark wooden base probably dates to the early mid 1900s. It is as sturdy and usable now as it was when it was made.
These stools can be used as child stools, foot stools, adult stools (as long as the adult is not too heavy !), plant stands, somewhere to store newspapers, books, laptops. Somewhere for the cat to sleep. They are attractive and functional. A lovely wooden structure with a woven cross cross design seat on the top.
The seat is pretty taut after all these years, but there are a couple of loose ends to keep an eye on. Yes there are marks to the wooden part of the stool, but this is an authentic vintage item. Scratches and stain coming away in places.
A lot of these stools were 30cm square, but this one is actually a slight small rectangular shape - so slightly more unusual. Great little addition for a living room, play room, bedroom. Please have a good look at the photos and video.
