Delightful small treasure box or chest. Vintage wooden box likely from the early 1900s. Handpainted with a sailing ship on the top, reinforcing the possibility of it being a little treasure chest : ) . WOnderful small box perfect for jewellery, small toys, papers, cards etc. Lots of signs of age on the box and of course the wonderful painting on it. Clean inside.
This is a great little box - maybe you have something you want to hide away, or a box you want to store things in out of sight. Could of course be a paintbox (it does have its handpainted design of course). An artist's box perhaps? Or somewhere for lego bits? dolls clothes etc.
I don't have a key, but I strongly suspect that there are many old antique keys out there which would work for this chest. It does just but be aware that there is no locking to keep it closed. There are various signs of age on the box - all adding to the charm. DO have a look at photos for more info.
The little painted sailing ship is very sweet and gives this box oodles of character.
